Questions You Should Ask Your Mortgage Lender

So you’re wanting to start a mortgage. Congrats! That means you’re planning on buying a home that you (hopefully) love. However, before you sign on, it’s important to ask your potential lender several questions.

As a mortgage lender ourselves, we believe transparency is important and that borrowers should be fully informed before beginning a mortgage. Here are 8 helpful questions to ask:
  1. Which loan do you recommend for my situation?
  2. What interest rate am I approved for?
  3. Can I provide any additional information to lower my interest rate?
  4. Will I have to pay Private Mortgage Insurance (PMI)?
  5. What will my monthly mortgage payment be?
  6. Is there a pre-payment penalty?
  7. Can you approve loans in-house?
  8. What makes you stand out from other lenders?

The answers to most of these questions will vary from person to person as each person’s situation is unique. That’s why we invite you to meet with us at United Credit Union. We are different from other lenders in that we value and believe in People, Integrity, Fun, Loyalty, Commitment, and Teamwork. Give us a call at 888-207-2188 to set up an in-person meeting. We’d love to answer these questions and walk alongside you during this exciting time.
